Lunchtime at ALR -- we have some fabulous cooks!
Is ALR affiliated with any church or denomination?
The retreat is open to people from all Christian denominations and is not affiliated with any particular denomination. Our goal is not to take people from "point A to point B", but to simply provide a place where the Holy Spirit can be the teacher to the individual believer.

How did the retreat get started?
The first ALR was in the Fall of 1986. It was originally organized as a retreat for small group leaders. It quickly became obvious that God intended the retreat to be open to all believers -- a place to get away from the busy-ness of life and listen for His still small voice. Learn more about ALR

Why a "silent" retreat?
Life is full of noise. Multiple issues are always clamoring for our attention. The art of silence has been lost in our culture -- we immediately feel uncomfortable when confronted with it. Yet our Creator calls us to "be still" and to know that He is God. Jesus himself often took time to get alone and draw strength from the father. Our purpose is simply to provide you a place to do just that. Don't worry though, the retreat isn't TOTALLY silent! See the schedule for more information. Find out about the discussion times

Is the retreat just for couples?
Absolutely not! The retreat is open to singles, couples, teens and adults. The blending of the generations makes for rich interaction during the discussion times.
